October 1, 2026: The 2027 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards open for entries.
December 1, 2026: The first regional entry deadline. Deadlines vary depending on your region. Some are as late as January 4, 2027. Use our Region Locator to find your deadline. You might have different art and writing deadlines.
January 27, 2027: Regional Announcement Day! The Scholastic Awards Entry Portal is updated with results of regional judging!
While some regions may announce earlier, official results and certificates for all participants will be available after this day. Log in, download your certificates, and celebrate! Be sure to review your region’s information page.
March 31, 2027: National Announcement Day! Regional Gold Key winners see how their work fared on the national stage. Results from national judging and scholarship committees are announced!. View the results at medals.artandwriting.org or log in at portal.artandwriting.org.
June 8–June 11, 2027: National Awards Week in New York City. Gold Medalists and select special award-winners are invited to celebrate with us for the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall, the National Exhibition, and more.
July 1, 2027: The 2027 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards season ends. Teen and educator Portal access ends for the season as we prepare for next year.
Make sure to download copies of your work and certificates from the portal before this date. They will not be available in your account when we open again in the fall.

Senior Spotlight! Curating a Scholastic Awards Portfolio

Seniors! Now is your time to shine! In this webinar, we will break down how to enter an Art or Writing Portfolio, open to seniors in grade 12 only.
Discussion topics will include selecting your works, writing your Artist/Writer Statements and Personal Statements, and other tips and tricks to make your portfolio unforgettable. You’ll get the chance to hear from former Portfolio Award National Medalists, learn how they put their portfolios together, and where they are now.
